My current ride.
2001 Harley-Davidson Road King Classic (FLHRCI) These pictures take the day before I picked it up at C&A Harley.

Unlike the Wide Glide below, this bike is rock stock for
now. Will add a few goodies, but with my current emphasis on
long-distance riding, comfort and easy maintainability are much more
important than chrome. It does have its fair share of chrome anyway, of
course. |

Guess who got the first motorcycle delivered at the
new C&A Harley-Davidson store?
This is the bike I took on the 2001
Sturgis Tour. It ran like a dream.
I rode it again on a 28-day, 8,000 mile cross country ride in 2007.
Here's the story....

1999 Harley-Davidson Dyna Wide Glide (FXDWG) Pretty
much as I bought it. Oodles of chrome stuff. Very loud pipes. This bike took me on many a HOG ride, including the 2,000 mile
run to Milwaukee and back in 2000. |
 |
Major accessories I added:
 | Mustang saddle |
 | LeatherLyke saddlebags |
 | Screaming Eagle pipes |
 | Windscreen |
The purple bear in the windshield was a gift for the Toys for Tots

1984 Porsche 911 Carerra We owned it for just one summer. Real nice car. |
 |
1972 Harley-Davidson Sportster XLCH. Extensively modified by Barry Akers (owner prior to me). Owned from 1977-1979 (became downpayment on first house) |
|
 |
1975 Corvette. Owned 1975-1977 (traded for Sportster and
TL's tuition money)
L48, Silver leather, A/C, PW. While I have fond memories of this car,
in truth it was a pig for a Corvette. It was the first year for
catalytic converters and detuned engines. It seemed fast enough, but was
nothing compared to the Corvettes of the earlier 70s. |

First motorcycle: a 1971 Honda CB350 which I bought new at
the Honda dealer in Elkins. It was about $700 as I recall. I paid for it
by selling Worldbook Encyclopedias and from my Navy pay. I sold it to a
new friend who I worked with, Terry Graves, in 1973 so Terry (Lambert)
and I would have a car. Twenty-eight years later, Terry Graves is still
a good friend, and was one of the guys who was on our 2001
motorcycle odyssey. |
